Guide

Three ways a floor can move

Drawdown is the rule that ends the account. The dollar amount is the easy part. The type decides whether a winner you gave back already cost you room.

End-of-day trailing updates after the session closes, using the highest close. Intraday trailing updates while the trade is open. Static does not update. Most end-of-day rules still fail you the instant equity touches the floor. They only wait until the close to raise it.

A few firms change type when you pass. Take Profit Trader is end-of-day on the test and intraday on the PRO account. MyFundedFutures Rapid is described the same way. Read the funded column, not only the evaluation.

Step 1 of 5

Flat, at the start

All three accounts open at $50,000 with $2,000 of room. The floor is $48,000. Nothing has moved.

Closed balance $50,000. No open trade.

Questions people actually ask

What is an end-of-day trailing drawdown?

The floor moves up only when the account closes at a new high. Open profit during the day does not lift it. Equity can still fail the account in the middle of the session if it touches the current floor.

What is an intraday trailing drawdown?

The floor follows the highest equity tick by tick, including open profit. If a trade runs $600 and you give it all back, the floor has already moved up by $600. It does not move back down.

Is a static drawdown better?

Static means the floor never trails. You keep the same room you started with, which is easier to hold through. None of the featured plans in our table are static. A few firms change the drawdown type between the evaluation and the funded account, which is a different surprise.

Trailing drawdown vs EOD drawdown: which is better?

Intraday trailing punishes you for open profit you do not keep. End-of-day trailing does not. If you scale out or hold through heat, end-of-day leaves more room. If you take small scalps and never sit in a winner, the difference shrinks. Static leaves the most room and is the rarest of the three on current futures plans.
